On Saturday, May 31, we headed from Red Canyon into Bryce. Like Zion, Bryce offers a shuttle bus system to the trailheads, so we took one to the end of its route to sightsee and hike along the ridgeline and down into the Amphitheater. We did what was advertised as "the best three-mile hike in the world," the Navajo Loop Trail. I don't think either of us would argue that. Bryce was hands-down our vote for best national park on this trip. And, of course, a passport stop.

View from the ridge into the amphitheater. |
Hoodoos in the amphitheater. |
Big hoodoo, little person. |
The earth was remarkably red,
the sky remarkably blue. |
Marc in a hoodoo. |
The view heading back up to the ridge. |
More humans and hoodoos. |
The view north of the amphitheater just off the trail.
The difference in terrain was pretty amazing. |
Leaving Bryce, we headed north with no idea of where we'd end up for the night. We passed the sign for Antelope Island State Park just north of Salt Lake City and decided to give it a go. We were so glad we did.

Sunset over the Great Salt Lake. As a native
of Washington state, I would've sworn I was at the ocean. |
Seriously, ocean, right? |
Yep, ocean. |
The next morning, we hit the road for Helena, where we ended our trip and showed Farley his new home in our carport.
